We arrived on Sunday evening at Grancon Kuala Trengganu. The room we requested were unavailable. I asked the receptionist.." Hotel mana yang sama bagus macam Grancon?"
He replied " Cuba Felda Residence Hotel". " Ada seafront view?" "Takde..tapi dia kat Kuala!"
Ahh..that sounds interesting. The room we had gave us a beautiful breathtaking view of the kampungs, the beautiful bridge and sputterings of fishing boats sailing up and down the estuary..we did not manage to take photos because of the window reflection.
After breakfast..we headed to my friend's shop in Pasar Payang. Choosing the beautiful silk batiks from Trengganu was not an easy task...because they were all so eye-catching. By the time I finished selecting the possible materials that friends and foes might like to buy, I left a heap of tired gorgeous materials slumped on the floor... covered almost a third of the built-up area of the shop actually...berselerak betul. Luckily my friend and her assistants were so hospitable and understanding.
And after bundling off a number of Trengganu silk batiks and 'digital crepe materials'
( I was told its the top favourite range at the moment and are made only in Trengganu), we headed for a light lunch at Uncle Chua's kopitiam.Not forgetting, I did buy some tablecloths, cotton batik shirts and ladies' batik sarongs for personal usage from another nearby shopping outlet.
Dato' co-incidentally finds the kopitiam place condusive to do his blogging..the reception is clear..from the hotels the internet connection is either slow or nil.
By evening, we were back at the hotel. I fell asleep for hours..only me..age catching up as always. At 9pm, Dato' woke me up to go for dinner. I was so tired and even had a mild headache.
Come 11pm, he dozed off while I went blog-hopping..lucky me..broadband ok.
And just to show a little bit of the view at the Kuala, we took snapshots of each other before the drive back.

I love Pasar Payang! Kalau ke Terengganu mesti nak ke situ and spend a few hours there.
As much as I love kain batik and shopping for them, I always find myself pening after 2-3 shops and almost always ended up with kain that I don't quite like. :(
But reading your post makes me miss home even more since I tak jadi lagi balik for raya puasa. There goes my angan2 nak pakai baju kurung baru. Takde rezeki sungguh.

The last time, I wore a batik shirt was when Genting had that dress code rule enforced. During the Magnum P.I era where Hawaiian shirts were the craze, I bulls**t my way with batik shirts..heheh, the angmohs were fascinated lah, the designs so unique one leh!
Anyway, I’m glad the both of u get to enjoy your deserved break. Next time tell Sak to leave his laptop at home!!! But just don't forget that "Don't leave home without it" thingy, that would do just fine'.

Theres a new P.Payang building opposite the old one..the shops are more spacious,air-cond and not so sempit.Many outlets are still carrying out their sales at the old building while some have shifted to the new one.
At the end of the year,everybody will have to shift to the new building.They are going to runtuhkan the old one and make yang baru..
My friend punya shop dah pindah.So her shop ada air-cond!!
Shoppers masih suka linger at the old building..sempitnyer!Habit I guess..but ultimately, semua shops kena pindah to building baru.

Dulu kita dok kat KT Traveller's Inn, because it is only 50m away from my Uncle's flat. (Cannot duduk with relatives lah, rumah diorang kecik, anak diorang nak buat homework, tak mau menyusahkan orang). Over the years it has become really rundown. So whenever we go back to KT, we will try to get a room at KT. When I was young, the older but bigger hotel was known as Pantai Primula. Then it was known as Park Inn, kalau tak silap saya. Now don't know what it's called.

I was at pasar payang lama dan baru cari songket tetapi my wife pula naik gian dia borong hampir semua batik hingga tak muat punggung kereta.
Next month nak kena pi sekali lagi kerana songket I beli anak kurang berkenan tak ceria warnanya. I am going with him and my better half dah kena ban dua trip ke KT. Pls don't ask me what she is going to do with all the batik, sarong,mini telekong and kraftan. what i can tell you, rauya dah pun dekat, pasti dia akan sedekah kat saudara mara I dan dia.We are not good in selling things kerana kesian kat orang so it is better we sedekah -- everybody happy.
Mamasita, I slalu ambik kain batik 3-lapis (kain batik lepas tapi Tganu design prints) dari satu kedai kat Kedai Payang tu, utk letak dlm hamper2 raya I. Satu hari ni balik Tganu baru lah I berkesempatan physically pegi kedai tu & kenal2 dgn the girls yg suara2 je I kenal (transactions were all over the phone).
They all memang tunjuk kain sana sini kat kita kan. Memang berlonggok! Nak pilih pun..hmmmm rambang mata :)
