It was a great final curtain pleasure for Huda Events to present one of the paintings of a pitcher plant to Karam who never ceased to create public awareness of our duty in environmental protection, apart from his dedication in highlighting the plight of those treated unjustifiably.
One of Zakaria Adam's famous 'periuk kera' pieces..
Did you know that we have more than a thousand periuk kera species in our Malaysian jungles? We have many protected and endemic species too. For example, the periuk kera Rajah is found in Taman Kinabalu Sabah and no where else in Malaysia or any part of the world.
Another amazing piece by artist Zakaria Periuk Kera.There are also other endemic pitcher plants like the Cobra Lily and the Slipper Orchid which are being smuggled out from our highland forests into Thailand and then onto Amsterdam which hosts the world's largest flower market. The lost may be 5 ringgit locally for the plants but in Europe the plants are grown commercially and cross spliced to produce new more beautiful varieties which can cost as much as 50 to 500 Euros!
What a display!!And our customs at the airport (KLIA, Penang, LCCT) cannot tell the difference between the protected species and the unprotected ones as they are not trained to do so.
We are losing millions to these smugglers especially in Cameron Highlands!!

Thank you for the lovely lunch and for hosting such a lovely gathering (sayangnya Kak Teh tak ada...miss you Kak Teh). I really had a nice time.
I wonder why the artist painted the rose in purple. Had he painted it in red we could name the painting 'Sekuntum Mawar Merah, sebuah puisi...'. I have seen purple cabbage but never a purple rose and one gentleman on the opening day was adamant that it was a cabbage. Anyway, it is a lovely piece of work and would have made an interesting focal point or a conversation piece in any office lobby or corporate office.

mamasita, terima kasih bebanyak belanja kami lunch semalam. It was such a great honour to meet all the makciks and kakciks who attended, to see, feel (salam hehe) and hear you gurlz in alam nyata. We created such a din in the TV3 cafetaria, oblivious to the stares and all. I guess we truly had fun!

Yes TM..Raw's mum is Alhamdullillah staying nearby KL..her dad passed away last year..if you nak her handphone number just give me a buzz..anak2 dia both boys.One is off to the UK soon and the other is in Yayasan Saad.She has gone to Umrah 7 times!

She sounds ‘garang’ but from those photos, she actually looks very lovely & warm and doesn’t look like a nana (as in granny) at all. No hard feelings hor, NanaDJ.
