When More Malays Feel Increasingly Betrayed

In Selangor, grouses have emerged..true or not, Malay boys selling burgers would have their burger equipment frequently seized whereas in Penang, fanning pork satay by the roadside seems fine..
...no harsh action unlike these burger stands.

Ancestor Mat Kilau In Memory

Using the name of Mat Siam, when Mat Kilau was a war fugitive in hiding, he once resided in a village called Kampung Penar Patani.
Hugh Clifford wanted the King of Siam to instruct the Sultan of Kelantan then Sultan Mansur to surrender Mat Kilau dead or alive to him.

Mat Kilau recalled he pretended to be dead. His 'body' was to be handed over to the Kelantan Sultan and the Sultan could inform the Siam King that Mat Kilau perished on the battlefield.

Mat Kilau continued his story.
It was easy for he could mixed a special concoction to drink that will render him unconscious for two days like a corpse.
His 'remains' could be carried to the Sultan upon condition and gurantee.

"The condition is my 'body' must be wrapped with a yellow cloth and people can only watch from afar.
On reaching the grave site, I can be substituted with a banana trunk" said Mat Kilau to Haji Abdullah, who wears a green serban (religious headgear) and was in charge of  his capture.

However Haji Abdullah turned into his comrade in arms after witnessing that Mat Kilau can disappear and appear.

The gurantee was that his father Tok Gajah and Dato Bahaman must stay beside his 'body' right up to the burial ground, and his students too be allowed to accompany his 'body' so as to assure he would not be betrayed.

Thus Mat Kilau drank his concoction, fainted, declared dead and was publicly shoulder wheeled to the Kelantan Sultan's palace veranda.

Sultan Mansur quickly relayed to the Siam King that Mat Kilau's body was at his palace and that Mat Kilau had been brought down on battlefield.

The Siam King accepted the news and passed it to the British.

Before Mat Kilau was 'buried', his students replaced his 'body' with a banana tree trunk and immediately whisked his 'body' to safety.

Unfortunately one of his students leaked the secret, which led to the fury of the British and the Siam King.
The King of Siam initially threatened to launch an attack on Kelantan but backed off when they got word that Mat Kilau and his followers were willing to fight till the end in defending Kelantan.

To ensure peace in Kelantan, Mat Kilau moved to a village called Kg Pasir Nering.

There he was ambushed and attacked by the English and a bullet hit and hinged on him.
His skin was torn out, but did not penetrate his flesh and bone.

Apparently, one of his students had told the British that Mat Kilau can only be shot with a gold bullet.

When examined, true enough it was a gold bullet that had been fired.

Imagine the number of gold bullets that the English had to manufacture using the gold mined in Pahang just to bring down a Malay warrior hero during the British Occupation.

Mat Kilau managed to seek refuge from Tok Ku Paloh in Trengganu and did have time to become a student of Wali Allah and Khalifah Tarekat Naqsyabandiah.

Tok Ku Paloh changed Tok Gajah's name to Tok Fakir Lebai Salam, and Mat Kilau's initial name began with a Muhammad.

Again, Mat Kilau faked his death in 1895 and was buried in Kampung Dalam Limau,Bunut Payung Kelantan to deceive the British and the King of Siam.( No wonder Arwah Mak would tell me of my relatives who live in Bunut Payung).

Anyway, the Kelantan Sultan swapped his body with a banana trunk and told him to quickly run away.

Mat Kilau's heroic journey had the great support of other historic Melayu names.
Of course there was the famous religious teacher Tok Ku Paloh who came from Trengganu.
Others included Abdul Rahman Limbong and Tok Janggut from Kelantan.

Mat Kilau had the mysterious knowledge of jungle travel.
He could sneak into Trengganu and Kelantan via special routes which until today are only known by those searching for the gaharu bark ( a special scented very expensive and rare wood).

To cut the story short, after finally being labelled a traitor and was badly injured in one of his bloody confrontations with the British, Mat Kilau was said to settle in Batu 5, Jalan Kuantan Gambang.

Lastly changing his name to Mat Siam, on Friday 26th December 1969, after the Friday prayers, he revealed his true identity.

A special Pahang Commitee was set up to investigate his claim and at 10.30 am Thursday, 6th August 1970, Mat Siam was proudly confirmed and certified as the one and only Mat Kilau, our Melayu pendekar.

I remembered despite being very poor and without waiting for the verification, while we were in Muar, my arwah Abah rushed to be one of those teary ones to humbly respect, kiss and touch this magnificent Melayu warrior.

On the 16th of August 1970, Mat Kilau took his final breath and was buried in Pulau Tawar beside his mother's grave Teh Mahada.
It was his last wish after his tireless, epic fights.
His father had passed away as a fugitive hero and buried in Pasir Nering Terengganu.

Next week, coincidentally, the Haji Mohd Modern Clan from Pekan, Pahang will again hold a 'family' gathering, but for this round it will be in KL.
It has been like a yearly tradition regardless of the location, to remind us of our strong, legendary roots and our numerous dearly departed who's who blood kin.

I have never bothered to attend one partly because of some 'differences' ( close but not that in touch, contrasting wealth and success achievements etc),  but God Willing, I might just push those aside and do a 'so be it' this time.

For Allahyarham Mat Kilau. Al Fatihah

May Allah SWT Bless Endless Mercy and Bestow his soul among the righteous, with immediate entry into Heaven Hereafter.

An Hour In Parliament

I watched and tried to listen with keen interest.
The question and answer time was full of decorum and easy to understand.
Arriving an hour late, I might have slipped out on slight confrontations between irritated MPs.

Those whom I saw spoke were not menacing looking.
There was a lot of surprising courtesy.

Our Parliamentary session this morning was full of remarkable discipline.
Question, answer, satisfied, next topic.

A minister who was done was seen leaving the Dewan.
So the seats got scantier like a row of teeth being individually extracted.

I viewed the many PH MPs on the other side.
Saw YB Nurul Izzah busily talking to one of her colleagues.
Behind the opposition benches, I did see our Chief Opposition leader walk by.
A wise, charming looking silver haired MP.

Not fierce like a growling tiger, but selected because he also has a refine manner of rebutting.

Today is just my warming up day, getting my first experience.
If there were earlier heated discussions, my ears were not there.

Parliament resumes on Monday.
It starts at 10am

I promise myself to be on time since I can only manage to be there until about 1pm.
The second half is apparently from 2 pm till roughly 5.

There could be more interesting and engaging debates in case I miss if I walk in late.

Back in the lift, instead of G, I was accidentally going up to the 17th floor with two friendly, young people.
One politely broke the ice. So where are you from?

I replied in my honest, most humble style.

And you all?
We are from Anwar Ibrahim's office as they drifted out from the elevator.

Smiling and feeling a little blown away, I bid them goodbye.

As I waited for my Grab, DS Mustapha Mohd/Tok Pa passed by hurriedly with his aide to a waiting car.
Now in PH, he seemed even more serious faced than ever.

Got to get my formal, covered shoes to the cobbler.
The slightly opened ones are not allowed.

Tried many at a popular, not so expensive shoe store yesterday.

As always, most will not fit.
The maternity, slightly pricey covered shoes offers me greater comfort, but they were not sold there.

GRAB DAY OUT

I went to Parliament today.
Feeling like an MP, dreaming and wishing I was one.
Walking under the hot sun by the cool, blue marbled fountains.

DS Najib should step down and focus on his court cases.
He must not be in denial and face reality.
There's no aura from him right now.
Who is Tok Mat Hassan trying to fool?

Many disgruntled Umno members back in Pekan just want him to step aside.
Even as MP Pekan.
But they are just boldly grumbling behind his back.

If DS Najib is innocent of even half of the charges, UMNO members will surely not hesitate to put him back on a high pedestal again.
For the sake of Umno, he has to be wiser.
The unhappy ground feedback must be surveyed and not stifled by DS Najib's close Umno colleagues.

I managed to get what I wanted going into the Parliament territory.
List of names of all the current PRU 14 MPs.

If one wants to make an appointment to see an MP, one has to get in touch with the pegawai khas/special officer.
There's no such thing as barging straight to the MP.
Maybe, the MP must loosen that law once in a while.

For people vote for the MP, not his special officer.
And what if his special officer decides not to allow without the MP's knowledge?

Will not that cause a bleak chance to converse directly with the particular MP?
The same applies for any Adun.
The pembantu khas may just decide to chuck the request aside.

The newly constructed Parliament building is still ongoing, but should be completed by the end of the year or in 2020.

MPs only gather at the Parliament if there is a sitting.
Otherwise they do not live there.
They station themselves most of the time at their respective constituencies.

Anyway, unlike last time where there was a proper booklet, this time it was in a thick bundle of neatly printed papers.

I thank the kind, patient officer and the few nice ladies there for giving me their co-operation and humble respect.
No one looked down on a nobody like me.
Of course I had to dress properly and introduce myself politely.

My plan is to photostat another set copy, bind them and pass to someone who is still on his challenging stroke recovery journey.
His interest in following what is going on in politics remains alive as ever.

Many may have forgotten the ex BN Adun, ex MP from DAP.
However, I presume that there are still a few, whether from BN or PH, Aduns or MPs who could be in touch with him occasionally via whatsapp.

He is not able to speak but fortunately can use his left fingers to type.
It's his right side that is currently paralysed.

Then, I nearly rode off with the visitor tag and when I dash back to quickly return it, a police security personnel chuckled and smile.

Off I went to Langgak Golf to try and make an appointment with a very notable and famous MP.
Hopefully, I get one soon..a long shot, so I am prepared not to be disheartened.

Next was the LHDN in Mutiara Damansara to update my BSH details.
It was their lunch break so I went to have my nasi goreng kampung and iced coffee latte at the restaurant where those who worked there communicate via sign language except one or two.

Wargamas over 60 are now entitled to one thousand and not 1200 like before.
But the government has added 120 ringgit extra to assist families who have four children below 18 or something like that.

I wasn't really paying attention.
Just glad that wargamas BSH is still okay.
And I was home by 3 something almost 4pm.
Tired, but felt glad I tested certain fear levels which I had postponed numerous times.

There are more important ones that I need to conquer as soon as possible.
Hibernating with important household chores and routine daily responsibilities have to be reshuffled..a bit.

Pardon My Chit Chatting

In government hospitals, patients are basically at the mercy of uncouth, easily agitated nurses.
They can be scolded, chided and treated sarcastically.

Nurses generally are claimed to be over worked.
However, quite a number can be seen yakking away, tongue lashing at helpless patients when they get frustrated.

The pathetic treatment of patients not only in urban, but especially in rural government hospitals must be seriously noted.
Not only in terms of food, hours where they make patients wait to have much needed bottom cleaning assistance must be improved.

Let a kin be at the side 24 hours if they think they wish to rest more and not be disturbed with stinking pee and poo chores.
Otherwise, they should be on their pretty toes.
Not milling about at their designated counters, and flexing their muscles to make patients scared of asking their help.

We have a brand new government.
Tun M is a doctor.
Surely he must be aware of the long standing gravity of mistreatment, happening in government hospitals.

Till when will there be a cure for rampant 'patient cruelty' in government hospitals?

And where are our PRU14 elected Aduns and MPs regardless PH or Opposition.
Too high and mighty to go down and check on the well being of such poor rakyat?

Putting a blind eye on the plight of patients who may have been wheeled with tubes to voting booths?
Busy forever on their political survival and party campaigning inside out?

Not the least worried sick about those who simply cannot afford private hospital care.

Al Fatihah For My Eldest Sister Arwah Sabihah Kamal Bt Kamaliah

Keep on writing..she said via sms when I had lost the interest to do so ages ago.
Moreover, I just could not find the time.

She was hospitalised for two weeks in PPUM, and then two days in Hospital Kemaman.
Finally a month's stay in Sg Buloh Hospital.

When I went to visit her last Sunday, she was clearly in her dying state.
At 70, she was already at the end.
Her heart was less than 20% functioning, her kidneys were failing and she was on the fourth floor of the no recovery ward.

I sobbed upon seeing her.
And cried achingly when we parted.
When I seek for her forgiveness, she too softly requested for mine.

I told her I would drop by again next afternoon and she replied a weak okay.
However, when my nephew informed me he was taking his mom home to his Serdang house, I thought O well...
I'll go to Serdang then.

My another older sister had already arrived on the 6pm bus from Chukai, Kemaman thus I might as well kill two birds with one stone.

Not until about almost 10pm was my Arwah Ngah transported by a private ambulance back to Serdang.
I have been wondering since whether she was also waiting for me as I did promise to visit her again.

My older sister Cik smsed me the next morning and said it was good news, for my Arwah Ngah slept soundly and it was an easy task for her helping with the 'ladies' thing.

Immediately I asked Cik to check properly for the person who was guarding her the day before said she spoke a lot to herself in a very incoherent manner.

Cik had hollered to my nephew who finally realised his mama was gone.
26th February 2019.

Beloved Arwah Ngah was buried after Asar prayers at UPM.

A few of my chidren and I were in Serdang by noon plus.
We reached back in Kota Damansara at almost 8pm that night.
With dinner outside, it was 9 something stepping home.

Coincidentally, there were three graves that evening on the UPM burial ground.
One was already covered, with the rites and verses speeding ahead loudly, Arwah Ngah's was ongoing on a slow, lower volume pace carried out by a lawyer cousin brother, and an open grave patiently waiting for the arrival of another jenazah.

There were hence, three red graves in a row..two done.
UPM handled their grave digging task with an excavator.

Not like the normal way.
After a few chunks of soil and stones and a plank over, the excavator completed the filling and leveling within minutes.

I suppose it is faster than the old traditional method.

May Allah SWT Bless and Bestow endless deep Mercy on Arwah Sabihah Kamal Bt Kamaliah's soul and place her among the pious.
Al Fatihah

Arwah Ngah looked so calm and at peace, after all her multiple turbulence and stressful hardships in life.
May her soul be Blessed with happiness in the Alam Barzakh, with an easy path to Syurga Hereafter.
